After speakeing with my tutor about some of the prototypes I’ve been making I have been thinking about the directionality of the device. The problem is that the act of the user turning their head to place their ear against the back of the device to monitor what is being recorded seems to remove the user from the subject they would be recording. So I have been sketching and prototyping to find a solution to this problem or to discover if it really is a problem considering that the user might not really need to see the subject since audio is the focus.
After some serious thought I decided that the problem wasn’t about the user being able to see what they are recording, it is about the direction for using the device is made to be a bit less clear by the act of turning away from the subject. I will spend the next few days trying to find a way to bring clarity to the use of the device.
